I think it is by far the least appreciated\u00a0citrus fruit in cooking and baking and I aim to change that! This recipe is a variation on gluten-free apple fritters that I have been making for a couple of years. The combination of juicy, bitter grapefruit with sweet, bright strawberries makes a lovely combination and an unusual but addictive donut hole flavor! Reduce heat and simmer until the syrup has reduced to 1 cup. Set aside to cool.<\/li>\n<li id=\"zlrecipe-instruction-1\" class=\"instruction\">Using a deep\u00a0fryer or a pot with a candy thermometer, heat the safflower oil to 360\u00ba &#8211; 375\u00b0 F<\/li>\n<li id=\"zlrecipe-instruction-2\" class=\"instruction\">Beat the butter and sugar together in a large bowl until fluffy<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Beat in the eggs, buttermilk, strawberry extract, zest and 1\/2 C of the grapefruit syrup until combined<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add the flour blend, baking powder, baking soda and salt and beat until smooth<\/li>\n<li id=\"zlrecipe-instruction-3\" class=\"instruction\">When oil is hot, use small cookie scoop to drop rounds of batter into the oil<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Fry until they are golden brown all over about 3-4 minutes per batch (they will often flip in the oil when one side is done &#8211; otherwise you can do this yourself)<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Dry on paper bags<\/li>\n<li id=\"zlrecipe-instruction-5\" class=\"instruction\">Dip the donut holes in the remaining glaze as soon as they are cool enough to handle and then toss in powdered sugar<\/li>\n<li id=\"zlrecipe-instruction-6\" class=\"instruction\">Serve immediately!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Enjoy!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gluten-Free Strawberry Grapefruit Doughnut Holes Recipe I am just mad for grapefruit!
